Issue:
CentOS 6.2 x64 install halts during initial boot, with boot
messages stopping at “Detecting hardware”.
Solution:
At boot menu screen from CD
[click] TAB key when the install line is highlighted
Add the following parameter to the vmlinux line and hit enter
acpi=off
